However, Alisson has kept 10 clean sheets out of 17 Premier League matches. first_imgAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez: Loans good for meby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveArsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez says his loan spells have been good for him.Martinez has returned to the club this season and is currently backup for Bernd Leno.He wrote for arsenal.com: “The reason I went out on loan last year is because I’d been training for six months but had only played two games. I went to Reading and was involved straight away. It was against Bolton on a Tuesday night and I felt as though I performed like I’d been playing week in, week out. I think that showed how professional I was. “It was a challenge for me because I had the choice of Leeds or Reading. One of the teams was competing for promotion and the other was struggling at the time. I weighed it up and chose the harder option because I wanted to show to everyone what I could do and prove the haters wrong. Some fans were still reminding me about that 7-5 game… they forget that I was only 18 at the time. I wanted to go back there and prove that I could do it. “In the last game of the season, the Reading fans were shouting my name and begging me to stay permanently. I can’t tell you how good that felt, but that’s how I want to feel all the time. I know how good I am and how good I can be.” last_img read more

(Photo by Evan Habeeb/Getty Images)With the 2018 college football season having reached its half-way point on the season, some ESPN writers are starting to make their predictions as to how it all ends. However, one writer is looking to distinguish himself from the crowd.ESPN Staff Writer David M. Hale published a piece of “Semi-bold,” “Fairly bold,” and “Really bold” predictions for the final weeks of the season. But it was his “Really bold” predictions for No. 4 Notre Dame (7-0) and No. 6 Michigan (6-1) that might make some waves.Hale believes that Notre Dame will miss out on the College Football Playoffs while Michigan will ultimately get in.As a school without a conference, Notre Dame likely will only need to finish the year undefeated in order to make the College Football Playoffs. Their remaining opponents are Navy, Northwestern, FSU, Syracuse, and USC.Michigan’s schedule will include Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, Indiana, and Ohio State. If Michigan win out and beat Ohio State, they would secure a spot in the Big Ten Championship game.Beating Ohio State will be a big ask for Michigan though. (Photo by Kevin C. The jersey features a mesh center, which hearkens back to the material of the 1988 uniforms. Also, judging by the video below and the photos Notre Dame released, the team will be wearing different pants as well. They will look more like the gold ones worn from the mid-1980s through the 2011 season, as opposed to the mustard-colored bottoms the team has sported since 2012.The jerseys will also include a patch commemorating the 150th season of college football, and the Under Armour cleats are a traditional black model, similar to the ones the 1988 team wore. (Photo by Jeff Gross/Getty Images)Many college football stadiums are on par with their professional counterparts as the best stadiums in sports. But there are certain stadiums that stand out from the crowd and get special recognition. This week, Sports Illustrated released a list of the 10 best college stadiums in college football history. The list included some of the usual suspects such as Ohio Stadium, Tiger Stadium, and Notre Dame Stadium among others. But it was one stadium that earned top billing as the greatest stadium in college football, and that was the Rose Bowl. The history and beauty surrounding the Rose Bowl is the reason why this stadium tops the list… The one-tier grandstand surrounds the entire field and there is simply not a bad seat in the house… There is no more aesthetically pleasing place to watch a game, and it certainly sits atop the list of stadiums a college football fan must visit in their lifetime. The legendary venue has served as the venue for the world-famous Rose Bowl Game since 1923. It has played host to such legendary moments as the 2006 showdown between USC and Texas, O.J. Simpson’s big game in 1968, and the 2016 shootout between USC and Penn State.last_img read more

I don’t know. I couldn’t put a second serve anymore.”Even the first serve, if you put it in, you don’t have to hit the second serve. That’s just very tough to swallow.”Auger-Aliassime had appeared unbothered by being on the big stage against the crowd favourite playing attacking, aggressive tennis that rewarded him with the early break in each set.Yet serving for the set, the 18-year-old’s inexperience and nerves were exposed. While Isner conceded his experience was a plus, he said it was not the deciding factor.”I think it (experience) may have helped a little bit,” said Isner. “But you see a lot of times where someone can have all the experience in the world or some teams can have all the experience in the world and they don’t come through against an inexperienced opponent.advertisement”Maybe he was a little bit fatigued because he came through qualifying.”So could have been a little bit of inexperience and maybe a little bit of fatigue, also.”Serving for the first set, the Canadian produced three of his seven double faults, opening the door for the 33-year-old American who went on to take the first tiebreak 7-3.Auger-Aliassime regrouped and was on the attack again in the second, grabbing the early break to nose in front 4-2.Again serving for the set at 5-3, he let Isner back in the contest as the American got back on serve with the help of yet another Auger-Aliassime double fault. While Auger-Aliassime was misfiring, Isner’s serve was booming, as he blasted 21 aces past his opponent.”I just felt like, I don’t know, the nerves got to me a little,” said Auger-Aliassime. “I wasn’t able to do like all the other matches and just focus on what I had to do, and it really got to me too hard.”Also Watch:For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. IPL 2019: Bairstow-Warner bromance before Ashes wins hearts on social media

first_img Karishma Jain HyderabadApril 1, 2019UPDATED: April 1, 2019 12:52 IST David Warner gave Jonny Bairstow a tight hug after the Englishman completed his maiden IPL century (AP Photo)HIGHLIGHTSBairstow hugged Warner after reaching his maiden IPL hundred vs RCBBairstow and Warner added a record 185 runs for the first wicket for SRHSunrisers Hyderabad (231/2) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (113) by 118 runsWhen an Australian hugged an Englishman at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, cricket fans on social media went berserk. Sunrisers Hyderabad openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow got to the crease to face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday and broke a few records – they now own the highest opening stand in the history of the IPL.No mercy was shown by Warner and Bairstow towards RCB’s bowlers. Right from the first over, bowled by Moeen Ali, both batsmen were relentless. Virat Kohli tried everything he could as captain but it was impossible to stop Bairstow and Warner on a hot Sunday afternoon in Hyderabad.Jonny Bairstow and David Warner broke the record for highest opening partnership in the IPL as the duo added 185.The previous record was held by an Indian (Gautam Gambhir) and an Australian (Chris Lynn) for Kolkata Knight Riders. Incidentally, like England and Australia, India and Australia also have a great cricketing rivalry, although the latter is a far more recent phenomenon.Bairstow scored his maiden IPL century off 54 balls and Warner, his partner at the other end, smashed his first century of the season, 100 not out off 55 balls.WATCH: @davidwarner31 – @jbairstow21 ‘open’ up about their 185 run standThe explosive opening duo discuss their individual s against RCB and their ‘unique’ ways of celebrating it! Even Kevin Peterson questioned Bairstow, asking him if he can tell the world about that hug in an Ashes year. This is what Bairstow had to say about batting with Warner.”It was great to bat here – between the wickets it’s one of the bigger pitches in India so getting the gaps and constantly rotating the strike is tough – fantastic pitch out there. I’m not sure I’m superhuman, I’m absolutely cooked, but as long as you’re getting your head through the ball it’s alright – only if you fall over, you’ll miscue it,” Bairstow said.”It was fantastic to bat in the middle with Warner – and it’s fantastic he’s got the Orange cap. The crowd is amazing, the fans are fanatical, and we are fortunate to have them,” he added.Warner also agreed with his opening partner, saying, “I think the 12 months have done me well – I think I am refreshed. A fantastic partnership – a fantastic innings by Jonny (Bairstow). Half the job is done.”Here’s how fans and cricket pundits on social media reacted:That was extraordinary @jbairstow21 … Great to see England players lighting up the #ipl2019 !!Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) March 31, 2019The one thing that won’t get much of a mention but should are @jbairstow21 & @davidwarner31 fitness levels … 40 degrees and they are taking 2s for Fun … if you want to be World class ya need to be a fitness freak as well as a Cricket freak … #IPL2019Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) March 31, 2019One hard-hitting Australian: @davidwarner31 + one explosive Englishman : @jbairstow21 = a pair that have hit three 100+ partnerships in three games, including the highest opening partnership in @IPL history today! https://t.co/9kTAEoHzbYICC (@ICC) March 31, 2019An Englishman and an Aussie hug each other four months before the Ashes. What a moment.
